The iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro have the same screen size, the same resolution and a very similar shape. That is why they are the most commonly mixed-up pair in our order history — and why a “nearly right” screen ends up costing you two shipments instead of one.
What is actually different
The 13 Pro panel runs ProMotion: a 120Hz refresh controller that the non-Pro 13 does not have. Putting a 13 panel into a 13 Pro does not usually break the display, but the phone cannot drive ProMotion, and depending on the iOS version you may lose the smooth-scroll behaviour or trigger a non-genuine-part notice. Putting a Pro panel into a plain 13 can produce the mirror problem: the panel is capable of more than the board asks for, and some units show flicker at low brightness.
The symptoms of a mismatch
- Brightness stuck high, or auto-brightness behaving oddly
- Refresh rate locked at 60Hz on a Pro model (visible when scrolling long lists)
- “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display” after a successful install
- Touch latency spikes near the edges of the screen
- Random black screen on wake, clearing after a hard reset
How to check before you order
Do not go by the phone’s size. Open Settings → General → About → Model Name and read the exact string — “iPhone 13”, “iPhone 13 Pro”, “iPhone 13 Pro Max”. If the phone will not boot, read the model number off the back of the device (A-number) or the SIM tray in some regions, and match it against the model list on the product page before you check out.
If you already ordered the wrong one
Contact us before installing. An uninstalled panel can usually be exchanged; a panel that has been flexed into a frame cannot be resold, so fit first and ask later is the expensive order. Take a photo of the model name screen if you are unsure — that is usually enough for us to confirm the correct part.
